Rev. John Davenport is our Congregational Care Pastor. He comes to New Hope with an extensive background in care as a board certified chaplain. Below is a brief summary of Rev. John's experience.
Rev. John Davenport, BCC
- Served as Chaplain at Metro State Women’s Prison at Candler School of Theology
- Graduated Candler in 2010, served at Emory Saint Joseph’s Hospital as Chaplain Intern
- Served as Pastor of Mount Pleasant UMC 2012-2013
- Led Small Groups and Studies at Connexion Church, 2013
- Ordained by Oakhurst Baptist Church in 2017, with Pastor Andrew assisting
- Chaplain Resident for the Atlanta VA 2017-2019, including as rehab chaplain for substance use and homelessness
- Board Certified as a Chaplain by the Association of Professional Chaplains in April 2021
- Worked at Emory, Northside, and Northeast Georgia Hospital Systems
- Currently Chaplain at Kaiser Permanente Palliative Care in addition to his role here at New Hope
